Research Officer · MARDI, Malaysia

I edit crop genomes, and take apart the enzymes that feed them.

I am a plant biotechnology researcher at the Biotechnology & Nanotechnology Research Centre, MARDI. My work runs at two scales: rewriting a handful of bases in a rice or tomato genome with CRISPR‑Cas9, and understanding how a single microbial enzyme — a beta‑propeller phytase — is built and behaves.

Between the two sits the computational work that makes them talk to each other: guide design, phylogenetics, structural modelling, and the biosafety documentation that lets an edited plant leave the growth room.

What I work on

Tools I built

Three genome‑engineering tools that run entirely in your browser — no install, no upload, nothing leaves your machine. I wrote them to teach the methods behind my own work, and they are free for anyone to use.
